“A new organisation design has landed on my desk. Should I approve it?”
OD Verdict
We review a proposed new organisation design and give you our independent view.
Your own team, a corporate centre or another firm has drafted a structure, and you are being asked to approve it. Or you sit on a works council and are asked to advise on a proposed organisation design.
You probably do not review an organisation design every month. We do, and we can be a second pair of eyes and do that final review for you.
- You get
- A review paper of a few pages with:
- our verdict: the main strengths and weaknesses of the design, and suggested actions
- the design reviewed against your own design principles and our criteria for a good design
- what would have to change for it to hold
- optionally, a review of the approach: whether the right steps have been taken to get to this design
- How long
- Approximately one or two weeks.
- What we need from you
- The design and the reasoning behind it. One or two conversations with the people who wrote it or who have to decide on it, and one session at the end to take you through our verdict.
- What we do not do
- We do not redesign it. Where the review shows the question is bigger than the design, that is an OD Blueprint.
- Works councils
- Under Dutch (WOR art. 22) and German (BetrVG) law, a works council can have this paid for by the company.
